This morning, I woke up from a dream that felt almost too vivid to be true. Picture this: I’m wading through a decorative fountain pool, ladybugs clinging to the back of my calf, each tiny red body moving with me through the water. Surreal, right? Yet, instead of feeling unsettled, I woke up feeling... intrigued. Naturally, I had to look it up. Turns out, dreaming of ladybugs symbolizes abundance, prosperity, and good luck—a rather generous forecast for my day!
I started my morning as usual, with a quick dip in the ocean (I live in Hawaii, after all), and on the drive back, inspiration hit me like a flood. And let’s just say, this ‘download’ while driving is a recurring thing (not sure if that’s the safest time to get ideas, but here we are!). I had so many ideas buzzing around that I whipped out my voice memo and captured every thought. By the time I reached my desk, I was ready to bring “Muse of Luck” to life.
Creating these pieces took some trial and error. I went through a few design tweaks, including experimenting with different SREF styles, only to circle back to my own unique --P strokes and --S plus --C manipulations. Finally, after a bit of fussing (the good kind), I had these refined, ladybug-inspired visuals that truly felt right.
If you know me, you know I like to revisit and evolve each photo series, much like a good bottle of wine—it needs to sit and breathe to reach its best flavor. And maybe that’s the secret to creative work, too. Sometimes, visual storytelling needs time to mature before it reveals its true essence.
